The hotel is REALLY average. The rooms are more spacious then in the rest of the country where I stayed. Its quite clean. There is a computer in the "lobby" and free wifi in the establishment.
I went there in November and it was quite cold in there. It is also CHEAP so recommendable if you are on the budget.
When you go out turn left and then left again you will find a street full of restaurants, so you can have a breakfast, lunch or dinner anytime anywhere you want.
The price was a bargain, the rooms have plenty of space, continental breakfast was good, the staff helped us plan some activities and was nice enough to store our luggage. The hotel manager was very friendly and made a reservation for us in Arequipa! Wifi and TV signals were poor, but they did have a guest computer with internet.
Firstly - we are only staying here because we had a tour that included it.
We stayed here 2 times - once on the way to the islands and on our return.
The tour ripped us off so we are pretty clouded already in our thoughts.
The location is close to the docks but it is 10 minutes walk to the main square and nowhere for food nearby. We did not feel safe in this area to walk at night so this was a problem.
I had altitude sickness too - the lady was ind enough to bring me coca tea.
It has free wi-fi - my son liked that.
Breakfast is basic bread and jam but the creamy milk for my coffee was awesome! They also made fresh juice which was nice.
We got room 202. It had so much street noise I could barely sleep. It also had no hot water. When I told the grumpy rude man at reception he said wait 5 minutes - I waited a lot longer - definitely none. I got him to come to the room. You could see the wires were cut - he just grumbled at me and walked off. So I had no hot shower. Not happy in that dept especially after no sleep.
When we returned I got hot water ok in an upstairs room on level 4.
I had to stuff empty toilet rolls in the glass to stop it rattling each time a car went past.
I asked for toilet paper and she told me they had run out. Then I asked another person and we got some. This was for the reception toilet no less.
I suggest this hotel as a stopping point if you want the tours to the islands.
Be careful if you book tours. Our tour through Escandinavia Travel and Adventures Agencias de Viajes Y Turismo completely overcharged us, lied to us about Bolivia being closed - which it isn't - only one border is, and a bunch of other stuff. She also said she would organise so on our return we had a rear room. We returned and she had not booked it. All lower rooms were taken. When reception rang she lied and said I never asked - I asked her about 4 times. I don't tolerate lies.
No-one told us there is a kitchen you could cook in either.
Soccer training can start before 6 a.m. on the rear field with about 100 kids and whistles going and ball kicking and shouting. Not too noisy though.
I was impressed they rallied together to help me up the stairs with my heavy bag. The lady was helpful at reception.
