The Albergo Astron is very near the train station, so it is ideal for people stopping the night and moving on. It's certainly nothing special, but my room was big enough and the ensuite shower fine. Breakfast was again simple, but enough to start the day. It's an easy 20mins walk into the old centre (worth a look), but if you just want to get dinner nearby, there are one or two places near the station (the one I went to was called Pizzeria al mediterraneo and was certainly good and cheap enough for my limited budget). Quite a few people hanging around near the train and bus stations near where the albergo is located, but not especially seedy or dangerous in nature. It's nothing amazing but it was perfect for my needs!
Right next to railway station and bus station. Single rooms small, beds narrow, towels had no thread on them. Owner was very friendly. Very old worldly room and hotel. Lots of people tend to hang around the area. There are shops underneath and people sitting around under the rooms drinking and talking. In my experience not a very nice part of town.
Having booked Hotel Cristallo, I arrived to find that they had double booked my room and that I was to be moved to the Amato. This was meant to be the same price, but they attempted to charge me 10 euros extra per night. The room was small, dingy with old decoration. The bathroom area had a shower which was broken, and had no pressure and, even with the extractor running 24 hours, there was a smell, which I do not wish to know the source of!
