I have also reviewed this property's sister hotel, the Armada Palace. The Armada Palace 2 is right around the corner. I stayed here on this visit because the Armada Palace 1 was full. On a previous visit, I had told the Armada Palace 1 that I was coming on a particular day. I arrived, and of course they didn't have a room for me and they were full. The Armada Palace 1 seemed to have gotten their internet service working again, and they weren't overcharging me for being a westerner since I brought a local friend on a prior stay. So I thought I would return. When they were full, they did help me by calling The Armada 2. The Armada 1 front desk called the Armada 2 front desk and asked if they could accommodate the "American." Maybe that was the code word for charging me the "American price." And sure enough, they did. The charged me 250 SAR, when the same room would cost me 200 or 220 at the Armada 1. I confronted them about this, and they said that because it is a newer hotel than the Armada 1 they charge more. It is true the hotel is larger than the Armada 1. But the room is the same. I did have a window facing outside rather than an interior shaft like I usually have at the Armada 1. But it wasn't worth extra money. I just flown in from America and was too exhausted to go somewhere else.
The internet at the Armada 2 worked fine. The Armada 1 and Armada 2 are popular with Saudi families. I doubt they care if a foreigner chooses not to stay there because of increasing prices for westerners. Anyway, the hotel is in a great location and is clean, like the Armada 1. The hotel's maintenance and cleaners are low paid Asians that are friendly and ready to help just like in the Armada 1. I am just fed up with these front desk dramas with pricing and reservations.
