Absolutely loved our stay at the GHT Balmes. Rooms were great and spacious and beds very comfortable. Staff friendly and accommodating. Pool area is fab although I would recommend you don’t bring valuables poolside ( we had a phone stolen from a bag beside our lounger). Would definitely stay here again
We stayed at the end of August and although we had a good week we will not stay at this hotel again.
The food was absoulty awful, evening meal didn’t start till 7.30pm so as you can imagine it was a free for all, it wasn’t relaxing. Two evenings we couldn’t get a waiter to take our drink order meaning we didn’t have a drink with our meals.
The pool was okay, however my son and other children there at the same time cut their feet in the pool on the sharp tiles.
The food at the pool bar was nice though.
The hotel is old and dirty, we found half eaten biscuits under our mattress.
Fridges cost extra... most hotels have these as standards in each room.
All the negative aside, the location is good. Nearby beach is lovely, train station isn’t far and is 10 Euro each into Barcelona. The main strip of nightlife is only a 10 minute walk too.
We would return but not to this hotel, it was dirty and outdated.
Looks fab on the brochures...on arrival was forced to pay a deposit of €50 because i had an apartment...(i hadnt asked for an appartment) it was tiny, my daughter got locked in the bathroom due to a dodgy handle. My children both cut their feet badly in the pool, very sharp edges on tiles. Parasols all falling apart. One day got big box of fries for €3 and next day asked for 2 boxes and was given 2 boxes, both only 1/4 full and still charged same price...on complaining to both manager and head office...got absolutely nowhere!!! Ripping off a 9 year old boy...disgusting.... attached photo of my sons foot 3 days AFTER stopping him jumping into the pool....i would never recommend this hotel or the hotel chain. And i have ACTIVELY discouraged people from booking with them
The hotel has a good central location, with easy access from the train station (cab was less than 10 euro). Staff were very helpful with all requests. Room was clean and reasonably well equipped for a basic apartment. Lots of grocery and convenience stores nearby for buying food and drinks. Pool area looked nice and wasn’t busy during our stay. We were in Calella for the Ironman race - this hotel location was excellent for access to the start line and T1/T2.
We only ate in the restaurant one morning - buffet had a reasonable number of choices.
Some age-related damage was evident in the room and the common areas. We found the bed to be a little too firm, however others may find it perfect.
Stayed In this hotel for 5 days 15th - 20th Sept 2018. Good value for the money. We had a room overlooking the pool which had a large balcony, room was basic but clean. Breakfast was fine, cooked option, cold meats and cheeses, cereals and pastries.
It's on the far end of calella, a bit of a quieter location although there were plenty of shops and restaurants which offered really good meals. Not much in the way of entertainment, we only found one place with live music although that may be due to the time of year. The beach wasn't far with a few nice beach bars to stop for a drink. Took the train to Barcelona which was easy and cheap €9 return.
