Tranquil and relaxing ambience, it's lovely to wake up in a carefully restored Queenslander, timber home with high ceilings, pressed metal and surrounded by palm trees. Ideal location in old area of Byron which is accessible to beach without having to go through the hectic centre of town.
Not suitable for noisy couples, children or partying groups as walls are very thin.
Top Shop is nearby and this is a great locals cafe for breakfast and lunch. Dianne was a perfect host!
Our time in Byron was enhanced have staying at the Byron Bay Guesthouse.
Due to no ones fault (we didn't have access to WiFi) we missed out on getting a lift down to the Guesthouse, and that was our only negative during our stay.
When we did eventually arrive we were greeted by Peter, sitting in his armchair, and after showing us to our room and giving us time to settle in we were offered a lift up to the supermarket by Peter himself, who then sat outside whilst we ran about inside attempting to not keep Jim waiting. When we did get back in the car he was full of the joys of spring and carried on chatting to us and giving us the history and attractions of Byron.
This is testament to Peter and his staff as on the day we left, he was away to visit his niece who had recently given birth, he arranged with Dharma, who maintains the GuestHouse, and with whom we had not met, for a lift to the bus stop, again I cannot say enough about how friendly and genuine he was.
If we do find the time to visit Byron again you can rest assured that we will definitely be spending time there again.
A nicer place / people you will not meet.
Travelled with my other half and my best friend to Byron and stayed there and had the most amazing time
- we were the only ones in the house! (we went during low season)
- Ryo the 'housekeeper' was absolutely fantastic and he would come in every night to make a wooden fire
- wonderful furnitures and comfy sofas
- big kitchen and we cooked quite a bit there
- quiet part of Byron
- we had a triple room (ensuite) and although the bed was so comfy, the bathroom wasn't a room per se but a glass cabinet in the corner, which was a bit awkward when there were two girls and a guy sharing a room -- on the upside there was a massive bathroom out in the garden with a superb shower
- location was excellent for us but might not be for people who want to be right in the middle of Byron Bay
Would definitely stay there again!
We had the delight of spending the xmas week at the Byron Bay guest house, from the start we felt at home and were made very welcome. The house is beautifully laid out with stuinning balinese furnishings and a gorgeous courtyard perfect for early morning breakfast or whiling the afternoon away with a lovely bottle of wine, which we had the pleasure of sharing with our lovely host Donna while laughing over life stories.
The house is centrally located with a short walk to both town and the beach. If you feel your legs can't take you all the way you can hail down the local tricycle man called Alberto!
Donna & Greg were very hospitable hosts and really made the difference to our stay.

My wife and I chose to stay at the Byron Bay Guest House to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary and we absolutely loved it! The house is beautifully decorated with balinese furniture and its set amongst tropical gardens which makes it a really relaxing place to be. Our room was beautiful and exceptionally comfortable. Donna, the owner and manager, is lovely and she really looked after us. We were made to feel very welcome. We would happily recommend it to anyone and we will definitely be back one day.
