Beautiful riad, excellent food, great price/worth, and great location - not too far from the medina (navigable but also an adventure in itself to get through all the souks!) Houda (the manager) was AWESOME - a real powerhouse woman and such a genuine sweetheart despite her broken english (of my sister and I, I could only speak elementary french to communicate). Go to their Hammam recommendation (5 Elements) which is FANTASTIC. But do NOT go with their day excursion partner. It was a real nightmare of a company to deal with all around. Otherwise the riad was great (eat there!!). Ask her where to go for hookah, wine, and poker too.
I stayed here in April with my husband and my sister and her partner. We had a room on the first floor, the others had the room on the ground floor which was bigger. The rooms are decorated simply and comfortably and with a lot of style.
There are weird things to consider - like the lack of bathroom doors which is a bit odd - but the sister who run the place were such friendly, warm characters. If you want to be really quiet, then this may not suit as noise tends to echo off all the hard surfaces and sometimes they play quite loud music which would be to everyone's taste. But if you are open to some interesting conversations (with the help of a laptop for the translations) and dancing round the place with the managers and their kids, it's a really friendly happy place to be.
Breakfast is great and they'll serve it when you want it.
We hired a guide to get us there - once you've done the walk once it's easy but you'll struggle to find it on your own. The location is great and there are super restaurants nearby.
The old building is beautiful and kept in excellent condition. With just 4 or 5 rooms it's quite feasible you could book the whole place.
My one annoyance was that my sister's partner was allowed to smoke in the courtyard. Nice for her, not so good for smoke haters like me. Watch out for the tiny tortoise who lives in the big planter in the corner of the courtyard.
My sister and I spent three lovely days in this beautiful Riad. We were very glad we found an incredibly affordable place with such a great location. Hooda was amazing, despite her broken english and my sisters broken French, we were able to communicate well. She is a fantastic host and an amazing woman. Be sure to know your way well from the medina back to the Riad because the small streets are difficult to navigate, especially at night! Hooda has a great recommendation for a hammam, but I would not recommend the day excursion with the company they partner with. Eat at Cafe Arabe around the corner, go to 5 Elements hammam and enjoy Hoodas breakfast and the Riads dinner!
This Riad was fantastic value for money.
With a very friendly couple running this place, breakfast at any time in the morning we wanted it, well maintained rooms, a contrast to the chaos outside.
A lovely central area too.
Can't fault it for the money.
This was my 5th visit to Morocco & Marrakesh and iv have stayed in all sorts of places. I enjoy trying out new hotels/ hostels and getting to know different parts of the city. There were 3 of us in our group and we booked a room to sleep 3. We arrived at night and it was not easy to find (down some small dark, narrow streets) We had just climbed the mountain Toubkal, so we were looking forward to a nice quiet room in a quiet location in the busy city. The room was on the bottom floor right across from the reception/ kitchen/ dining/ breakfast area. We could hear everything from outside as the doors didn't close securely (They were more like shutters) At one point I had to go out and ask if they had any other rooms as this one was just not private. We could hear them and they could hear us (even with all the 'shutters' and curtains closed) at 11pm the reception/ dining music stopped and everything closed down. We did sleep well and the beds were clean. The toilet in the room had no door or curtain and as we were a mixed group of 3 this was not ideal & unfortunately when nature calls, people in the room and the guests outside having breakfast can hear what should be your PRIVATE business. I would hate to think how a couple on a romantic break would find this place.... We did not feel private at all in the room. Apart from that, the breakfast was OK.. Location after you get your bearings is good and the service was good. The room let is down big time. I personally will not stay here again and won't recommend it to others. There are better places out there. Enjoy Marrakesh!
