Our employer booked us a suite at the Capri Hotel & Suites in October for a two weeks business visit to Jordan. Well, it’s not the Four Seasons but you get what you pay for. True, there is a deep smoke smell which probably stems from a time before it went non-smoking, a little unpleasant but we got used to it fast. It is however perfectly adequate and we stayed there for two full weeks and found it to be quite ok. Wi-fi was free and quite fast (!), the kitchenette was enough to boil water and fry some eggs, required utensils, cutlery and dishes were all given to us upon request. The breakfast was plentiful every morning with someone making omelettes and other egg-based things. The staff certainly were very friendly and we felt very welcomed (most Jordanians have that effect on foreigners – something that makes Jordan such a nice place to visit).
The best thing about the hotel is the location. Exiting the hotel and walking to the left is a small supermarket about 5 minutes down the road and Murphy’s, the Irish Pub, and a few other restaurant another three minutes from there. Leaving the hotel walking into the other direction, then taking a right at the T-junction, there is an off-license that’s open almost 24/7 and, a few minutes’ walk on from there, a great local meat grill place (try the sheep testicles!). Hence you don’t need the room service at all and just go and do your own thing. We would stay there again if helps saving the employer a bit of money.
The hotel has non smoking signs everywere, however, the whole building and each room has a deep smell of cigarette smell. If you are unlucky, and your neighbor at the next room smokes, the smell becomes disgusting!
The hotel has a "restaurant" but only works for breakfast. If you need to place an order for room service, the food is brought from somewhere else. Furthermore, not all dishes in the menu may be available. If you order a soup, it may come in a bowl, or somtimes in a very small cup.
The use in your room of the a/c, may depend if the manager at the front desk turn it on for you. If you want cold air, but other guests want warm calefaction, you'll sweat during that night.
This hotel needs some remodeling and more rules for smokers.
