Due to I had to work at Phitsanulok with my officers so we tried to find some hotel to stay for a week then we found Casa Holiday where was a nice hotel. First thing which I impressed, when I walked out from my car, receptionists smile and said "welcome, how can I help you?", I felt it is warm welcome. I talked about the room that I need for 3 rooms for 1 week to stay here. They gave us a good recommendation for staying, show us each rooms and still recommended for 3rd floor cause it has balcony and table in the front of the room for eating, meeting and relaxing. While I was looking the room, I saw rooms were clean and large, staff always talked politely. So I made up my mind to stay here. Although rooms were not ready yet but room maid hurried to clean up the rooms for us so we can got rooms early without charge anymore, more over we got a discount from them, we felt surprise and happy.
The Casa holiday is near by many places such BigC, Central, temple, night market and etc. so if you are looking for hotel for your vacation or business I think this hotel is one of your option to choose.
Casa Holiday Hotel, Phitsanulok, 22 Dec 2012
Mostly people pick hotel in Phitsanulok as a base to visit Sukhothai. Therefore, you would expect it to be conveniently located near transportation (bus/train, etc) or at least receiving some reliable information from hotel about shuttle vans or day tours. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed on several fronts with this hotel.
It was fairly cheap, spacious and clean room with minimum facilities: no microwave, safe, or clock, etc. it is way out from train station, or market area, and in remote inconvenient location. Next to hotel is automobile servicing station and noise of their power washer’s and compressors can bother you during day time. That also explains neighborhood of this hotel. You are not going to step out on the street to find tuk-tuk or moto easily. This become’s serious problem especially during dark hours. If you want to go out you don’t find transport. If you are coming from station or market area either tuk-tuk wont go there or go at reasonable price. In the evening this area become deserted, no one on street to ask directions and feels unsafe.
My main complaint is about dishonest front desk. The lady gave me “map” of the town. It is over simplified caricature that has hardly any resemblance with real world and absolutely fools you about distance. Don’t take it or follow it. That frontdesk lady will tell you bus station is “right here” which is actually not anywhere in walking distance especially if you are carrying your bags. Then she told me train station is a “nice walk” distance. I was fooled and tried to walk back one evening after nice walk by riverside (that’s the best part of Phitsanulok. Start at the temple side and walk up the river to station area).. I was walking for a long time and not getting anywhere. Soon I was in quiet and dark area but I had walked too much to run around and go to train station to find tuk-tuk. I didn’t find tuk-tuk or moto on the way. Then I was on a highway like road with a lot of fast traffic but nothing on sidewalk..quiet and unsafe. I was cursing myself for getting in to this “nice walk” thing. It took me some 90 min of brisk walk (I was really worried if I was ever going to reach or find this place) and some good luck to find this place during night hours. I wish they were honest about giving advice. Also, no help on trip to Sukhothai – no info, direction, advice, you find your way! I think, i am ok with price and facility, my major frustration with this property was it's location and pathetic frontdesk.
