The guest house is small and a bit noisy due to the vicinity to the main (and only) road which is very busy with tucks, taxies and a lovely elementary school. The staff may seem a bit rude but only because they're shy of their english and, maybe, too many rude tourists. It's cheap, clean and the food is good. Close to the beach and main bars. Don't complain too much, it's really worth the money you spend.
This place has newly furnished rooms and is really nice for the amount you're paying. There are no sinks and the beds are a little hard but everything else is great. There is a nice little patio and big glass windows, comfortable bed sheets and pillows, a nice, large fridge, and nicely decorated space. The service is basic: they don't clean for you unless you ask and the food is average.
One downside would be that there are ants - but maybe that's just a part of being in Ko Samet. Don't leave any food out! The ants will come - and many, many of them! Before the ants came though, the room was very, very clean. Again, the place is newly renovated.
The location is very close to the pier. No need to get a taxi to take you there. The walk is about 10 minutes to the beach. It's a little bit of a distance; if you have more money to spend, maybe get a place closer to the beach. If you're on a shoestring budget like me, this place is perfect. The other thing about the location is that you're on the main street - it is somewhat loud. It doesn't bother me too much since I live in a city but know that there are loud cars and trunks, a school nearby, and dogs barking a lot of the time.
