Seeing as this place hasn’t been reviewed since 2015 let me give you an up to date review of this lovely property. It describes itself as a ’hostel’ but it is unlike any other hostel I have stayed in. The staff were wonderful, it all seemed newly refurbished and in impeccable condition. It was also a very short journey from Tham Phang beach. Opposite is a lovely western/Thai restaurant. A little more expensive than what you might come to expect of Thailand but certainly worth it. I would highly recommend this property for a relaxing weekend on the island. It isn’t a busy late night island but a perfect place to stay for a weekend or a couple of nights of relaxing, beach visits and water activities such as kayaking.
The location is very nice but not clean, not clean towels and you need to bring all toilet articles your self (Shampoo, soap). The Island (Koh Si Chang) is a nice place to take a rest. If you like a quiet and beautiful place to stay then you probilly find this Island a perfect place.
It has been two weeks since I „checked out“ from Buachompoo „Resort“ and I still get shivers when I think about place that was supposed to offer „free WiFi access“ and „wonderful recreational facilities such as garden to make your stay truly unforgettable“, but delivered nothing as such. Our „villa“ (that was supposed to accommodate 8 people) turned out to be dirty and dusty rundown building in the farthest corner of the village with only 3 double beds and two stained couches without ANY bedding. The owner was not present when we arrived and, after we called him, turned out to be partying in Pattaya. It was already late and dark. After about an hour we got spare keys from villagers (who did not speak almost any English) and managed to get in. Almost immediately we discovered huge huntsman-spider in the kitchen. There were two big – about 3 inch long - cockroaches in the very dirty bathroom who entered and exited at leisure using a hole below toilet through which a sewage was supposed to flow away. Smell was omnipresent – but maybe it came from another (bigger) hole in the floor of passage to the kitchen. We were unable to use wi-fi that was supposed to be „free“. We called to owner again but he had alreay enjoyed too many adult beverages to be of any us. Day later a strange Thai lady approached us at the local store, about 1,5 kilometers from Buachompoo „Resort“. She asked where were we staying and stalked us then all the way to Buachompoo „Resort“ demanding extra money for second night. She left disappointed only after we showed her our prepaid voucher from Agoda.com. Oh yes - Agoda.com – I am somewhat intrigued that such „exotic“ place is bookable through otherwise respectable booking site! Also, there was no garden. But (as we found out on third day) there was a dead cockroach in the fridge! In conclusion „Buachompoo Resort“ is suitable for people who are deeply interested in bugs and other indoor wildlife or for people with visual impairments so apparent that they are completely unaware of their surroundings. It might also be suitable for those who seek reasonably placid place where to execute suicide. For others I would not recommend it.
