This is certainly not a place for your perfect holiday. We booked this hotel because we liked the architect and view from the buildings but once we got there, everything was terrible. Hotel staff wasn't so friendly and helpful and the resort was so dirty. Dust was all over our bed and furniture and once we got to the rooftop, bird poop were all over the place. Cockroach visited us in the late night and we found a lot of lizards in our room.
Breakfast was also not nice. We got only small serve of everything, like a kid's menu.
The hotel and architecture looks really interesting on photos and from a distance. But close up... Oh my!
1. Cleanliness of rooms:
-Mouse or lizard droppings all over the bathroom.
-A pile of toothbrushes left by previous tenants.
-Generally dusty and it appears to not have been cleaned in a good while.
2. Room standard and comfort:
-The hardest bed I have ever slept in, forget sleeping on the side.
-No mirror in the all-in-one shower toilet.
-WiFi not working on higher floors.
-Very small room.
-Miniscule TV set (old style vacuum tube).
-Could really do with a general facelift.
-Only rice porridge! No toast, no eggs or yoghurt or any western style food.
-No toaster (I asked if I could bring my own bread).
-Breakfast area covered in flies from the ponds (which should be cleaned).
-rooms are among the most expensive on the island, about 50% higher than the average. I paid 1500 Bt for a night. The higher price and the funky pictures were my reasons for booking in the first place. In this case, higher price does not come with better quality.
By all means, go and visit the interesting building, especially at night time when it is lit up well. But staying there? Avoid it!!
It's a real shame because most of these issues are easily fixed if the management would make an effort. If the rooms were just properly cleaned and they replaced the stone hard mattresses, put in a small fridge, mirrors in the toilets, shampoo… small things… and if they really did serve something decent for breakfast, I would consider coming back. I don't mind paying a bit extra for the interesting architecture, but then the rest really has to meet some kind of minimum standard.
I liked it and it has charm, I just cant recommend it for more than one or two nights,
Small rooms and low standard.
But if you want something different than a normal boring hotel room, than you are in luck.
The hotel style and decoration is different from surrounding area. This is very unique with pink building Bohemian arts. I'm in the bungalo site not on the building. If you climb up on the top of building you will got nice view of the island bay especially in sunset time. Inside the room generally looks ok if compare with that price but the cleanliness is poor, lots of dust on bed and and the floor. There is the worm on the mosquito net. The food is nice taste, love it. If you need seafood, you have to give prio notification to the hotel, they will prepare the nice thing for you. Local food at the island also nice, there is a market not so far from the hotel both in the morning and evening time. If you be there I recommended to use rental motorbike which is not expensive, and you can go around to see many different scenes in one island. The white bridge in the King Rama V palace is so nice if you like taking the photos.
Funny and original architecture from Morroco, the overall first impression is nice... but the rooms...
Refreshment of wall painting is urgently required, the room we had in the main building (other rooms available in bungalows but we did not see inside them) was small and bathroom was not so "fresh" either. That's a pity because the tenants are nice, internet is available and free in the lobby and price is correct (1200THB/night).
Ok for one night, not for a whole week !
