specielt yoga over værelserne.
The room was been booked by my sister in law. We didn't received the room that she was shown, instead we got a room at a corner on the first floor. Room was very dirty and dusty. Black particles were falling on the bed whole day. whole night we couldn't sleep due to noise by geckos and rats roaming on the roof. We were planning to stay for 10 days but checked out just after a night stay and found a better accommodation nearby called Bali Spring Cottages. Our vacation was saved. Thanks to God.
A tout at the Perama office offered us a place here. Since we had nothing booked, we tried it for one night. A mistake. For 150,000 you can get a place at a number of other homestays in the area - there is lots of competition. Hutama promised hot water (it was off in the morning), wi-fi in the room (it didn't work in the room, only outside), fruit and toast for breakfast (French toast - not normal toast, despite me asking multiple times for normal toast, and the fruit was papaya, banana and pineapple: all unripe). There was a road running parallel to the room outside which was apparently just for access to bikes, but children were screaming and playing and bikes roaring up and down all day and night - there are no windows, so you have zero opportunity to block out the noise.
We moved to Jangkrik the day after. The Hutama staff looked surprised we were leaving..I have no idea why.
Hutama Yoga Rooms, in the heart of Ubud, describes itself as "perfect for yogis and quiet travelers." This is highly misleading since these accommodations are painfully noisy. Hutama is set on a busy corner. Motorbikes roar by 24/7. The family compound directly across the alley on which all of Hutama's windows overlook is filled with children who play in the alley, directly under Hutama's windows, all day. Kids are great, but they are not quiet. The rooms in Hutama are nice: comfortable and equipped with kitchenettes. Free wi-fi. Maintenance for the rooms is spotty. During my stay, my shower backed up what had to have been years worth of disgusting mess all over my bathroom. The kitchen sink is eternally clogged. You have to run the shower for at least 10 minutes before it heats up. Luckily, it's warm enough in Bali to take cold showers. Still... for the price charged and the amenities advertised, Hutama is not a good value. Hutama requires that you book ahead and prepay the room. Best travel tip I have: never prepay a room for more than 1 night. If you're looking for quiet accommodations, stay elsewhere.
