We stayed at Shana, not darta, it was really clean and simple. King bed, aircon, fan. Beautiful family, best breakfasts, yummiest pancakes I've ever had. Garden and surrounds were really relaxing and great restaurants nearby
During my travels on Bali I was looking for a budget stay in Ubud and came across the Shana Bungalows (according to the signs on the outside - not Citrus Tree Villas? dont know where that name comes from). The homestay is reeaaaaally in the middle of Ubud, though it is relatively quite because the small street where it is located, runs parallel to the main street. You can reach the famous Ubud market by foot in no time. You shouldn´t expect too much from the rooms, but it was clean and tidy and it was offered the breakfast included in the (cheap) price without asking for it. Bathrooms could use some makeover though, but nothing what really annoyed me. The hosts were incredibly kind and friendly and helped me with every question and matter that I had. So when you are looking for a budget stay, you have come to the right place.
I stayed here with a friend in August 2013. My friend had been to Ubud before and searched the many different homestays and b&b and eventually scouted out this gem. The location is brilliant on one of the nicest streets in Ubud. It is very central and easy walking distance from everything.
Mina, the owner, is lovely and speaks good English. She is always willing to help and offer tips about the best places to go as well as helping with booking and trips you may want to take.
The breakfast each morning offered good variety and was delicious with fresh fruit.
The room contained a single and a double bed as well as a shower room. I must admit the room was not the most modern I've stayed in but full of charm.
I would definitely recommend.
