Out of the 3 hotels that we have stayed for 8 nights on this Aomori trip, this hotel offers the worst value for our money and has offered us the poorest accommodation indeed. I rarely write poor reviews but felt the urge to do so for this Hotel.
Location is quite good, about 7-8 mins walk from the Hachinohe train station and is directly opposite a huge Supermarket, a big 100 yen shop and a Drug store. There are some small restaurants nearby, too. Rooms in the Annex (connected to the Main building on the 2nd floor) are pretty new. Twin beds are comfy enough with a big TV! But that is all the positives of this Hotel stops ....
Upon arrival at 10.30am on check in day, I spoke to the Reception lady in Japanese that we would like a quiet room on the higher 2nd or 3rd floor (only 3 floors). All my requests, however, had fallen on deaf ears as she had offered us the nosiest Twin room 108 instead - next to 2 washing machine, the staircase and the main entrance door to/from the Annex building of the Hotel. Obviously, we did not sleep well the first night and I had gone to Reception the next morning at 7.15am and was offered a quieter room, 110.
If room 110 was available early in the morning, it goes to say that it was available on the previous day, our check in day! Then why didn't the Reception lady offered us this quieter room instead? Anyway, be forewarned - room 110 has a hidden water pipe compartment and we constantly hear water flowing down the pipes. We thought we would take it as 'soothing' and slept better than the night before as were so tired after a nights of poor sleep and whole day outing to Lake Towada.
Be forewarned, alot of this Hotels rooms are facing a big car park, so you should always request for a room NOT facing the car park. At this price range, our hotels in Hirosaki and Aomori provided free Buffet breakfasts for two, but not at this Hotel where they charge an extra 800 yen or 1,000 yen for a fixed set breakfasts (2 price ranges), not buffet style like in most Japanese hotels. Hence, it was very poor value for us.
To add insult to injury, the table in the Twin room was so small, with only one chair for two persons and there is practically no storage space. So we live our 2 nights here out of our luggage. And if you want coffee, hair conditioner or body lotion, you have to walk to Reception to get it yourself while other Japanese hotels provide these amenities in the room for your convenience.
All in all, we are certainly disappointed with this Hotel.
