We had visited Phayao for joining a mini marathon & charity “Run to Change Phayao II”. We stayed at Phuthong Hotel, the staff is friendly, room is cleaned, breakfast is good. Price is good, not expensive. Infront of the hotel is the Phayao Lake, very nice view.
The hotel is in the city centre at a distance of some 1.5kms from Kwan Phayao which is Phayao's main tourist attraction. Therefore, this hotel is best suited to guests with their own wheels.
The hotel is large with 4 different kinds of rooms on lengthy landings either side of the hotel. Ours was a double bedroom for 500 Baht on the second floor facing a number of houses and was therefore quiet. The hotel has no lift and a room away from the staircase a is probably quietest. The hotel has a large car park with an attendant to help you park and unpark.
The room was large and fairly comfortable with beige walls and wooden floors. In terms of furniture, it came with a small table and 2 chairs, a long desktop area with shelves, drawers, a TV with Thai channels, some drinking glasses, a large mirror us another chair as well as a fridge containing 2 bottles of water and a large wardrobe with some plastic clothes hangers and an extra blanket and pillow. The bed itself was enormous and relatively comfortable to sleep on
despite being able to feel some of the springs.
The bathroom had a bath tub in which is located the shower. Bars of soap and toilet paper are provided, but contains little else apart from a toilet and washbasin. The floors and walls are tiled. We had to request towels as there were none in our room on arrival.
The WiFi comes with a username and password that change every 24 hours and works well, of a little slowly. There is also aircon in the room although this is not very efficient.
It is a quiet room though all night, but you will be woken up by cockerels at the crack of dawn.
All in all, this is an affordable place to stay that is better value than the guesthouses near the Kwan, but you need your own transport to stay here.
A nice hotel only 5 minutes walk from the bus station and 10 minutes walk from the beautiful lake. There's free wif, you can pick up logins at reception. There's parking. there's free coffee at reception. My room was clean. There's a fridge with 2 bottles of free water in it. There's a tv. The aircon was slow to cool down the room but the room is quite big. I paid 450 Baht a night. I couldn't get the hot water to work in the shower was the only downside. All in all it was great. I would stay here again.
