My wife & I stayed at the Resort Inn Sakanoshita in October 2013. The hotel is rather difficult to access from the Kawaguchiko railway station, but the proprietor will drive you from the hotel to the station, and MAY even pick you up from the station. The railway station gives good transport access (train & bus) to the local attractions (Mt Fuji & the 5 lakes). But be warned, this is a traditional Japanese-style hotel - no beds, just thin padded throw-overs on the woven-mat floor! The only furniture is a small, low coffee-table. Bathroom and toilets are shared (no ensuites). The breakfast offered is basic but adequate - but don't be late, or you will be chased by the proprietor.
