This is our first trip to Sri Lanka with my wife and a couple friend who has been and lived in Sri Lanka. We stayed 3 nights at the Golden Carriage, the place is above average compared to the other hotels in the area, Rooms are clean, the service is superved, friendly and helpful staff, price of their meals are very cheap and delicious too specially the lamprais, yumm.
They also have a nice and clean swimming pool. Our stay at that hotel was very pleasant and very nice to remember. Highly recommended place to stay around Moratuwa area.
On Friday July 26 at midnight we arrived in Colombo airport and drove straight to the hotel we had pre-booked The Golden Carriage Hotel at Puran Appu Mawatha, in Moratuwa.
In the morning we realised that this is an excellent hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of city hotels.
The rooms were very comfortable, well presented with a superb ambiance in interior décor, view of the ocean from our bed and the balcony. There is a spacious garden to stroll, a swimming pool and a terrace adjacent to the pool to sunbathe.
There is a poolside restaurant for dining and cocktails. We indulged in epicurean food fit for a king, produced by a chef who has cultivated a refined taste unmatched elsewhere. The staff who served was courteous, friendly that catered to all our needs. All the staff from the management to reception, room service took all the care to make us comfortable. It was indeed very fascinating to see the trains travelling along coastline in both directions.
The Golden Carriage has 15 comfortable rooms, restaurant, swimming pool and a large banquet hall.
This hotel is 22 km from the city of Colombo and just 5 km from the famous Mount Lavinia beach.
We recommend this hotel to all itinerant travelers who delights in all good things in life.
Hotel is located facing the sea and hotel is famous for weddings and other ceremonies, haven't seen it as a daily dinning place ,but they do have rooms and other facilities as well, economical hotel on the Lunawa beach road
