I will stay anywhere clean and secure and am not snobby at all. This residence of studio apartments was utterly disgusting. Plus, this was a known brand name for €365 for 4 nights.
The reception was shabby, the carpet threadbare and bleach stained. The spiral staircase seemed to have had boards nailed over it. The lift was so tiny we had to put the buggy in and then run up the stairs to meet it.
The studio/room was on a dark, shabby corridor and when we opened the room, the stale and fishy smell was revolting.
The studio was tiny and had a pull down from the wall bed over a bench seat with stained seating. We pulled the bed down, obviously slept in mattress covers! Yuk!
Two steps took you to floor length windows (not a balcony as described) with a very low rail, my friend's little boy stood on this and would have been over the rail with a little skip - falling from the first floor. A lot of children would not see the danger here and possibly lean over. These rooms are not suitable for children.
A tiny alcove led to two bunk beds (again used mattress covers), hanging down curtains and again floor length windows. If a little one woke up before the adults, they could have been out!
The smell was traceable to the restaurant opposite.
The walls were dirty with marks and chipped paint, there was one comfy chair to relax in (you could take turns to relax I suppose!) There was no where for clothes or cases, how a family of four would fit is beyond comprehension.
We could see dust and hairs on the bedding, there were kitchen facilities but we couldn't face looking and left before R fell off the balcony, we were bitten by the used mattress cover residents or gassed by the odour de poisson!!
