We stayed here for two nights. We had a great room with plenty of space, a huge bed and a very nice view. The staff is very kind. For breakfast they provide a good choice of fruits, juice, cake, bread / sandwich and omelette.
This place fits with the town very well and the views are fantastic, the location is ideal with just a short walk to the town centre. I can imagine in the summer time it is a really bustling place but out of season very quiet. The rooms were really good and the staff were ever so useful but like all of Brazil make sure your local lingo is up to scratch.
Reading the reviews on here one could be mistaken to think I am in a different hotel, although the initial impression was good , especially the vey big and most comfortable bed made my day, however on closer inspection the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The bed room was ok but the bathroom was filthy with plenty of historic soap scum on the shower door , the windowsill full of dust and the floor littered with hair, brrr, the only good thing was the actual shower which was more like a hot waterfall.
The breakfast was the biggest disappointment. A drap uninviting room. No one to wish you good morning . 21 different types of bread and pastries ( yes 21)didn't make up for the lack of cheese and meats , no hot items available no eggs sausages or bacon, sad presentation of the before mentioned . Nothing to induce an appetite, a toaster was provided looking rather old and dirty and the best was a absolute disgusting looking sandwich maker with encrusted cheese and whatever which clearly needed to be thrown away .
The front desk staff appeared to be friendly, I don't expect to form a relationship , but a few friendly words would not go amiss.
I ordered a coffee at the bar which was eventually reluctantly served without the requested milk and only after the bar man finished his washing up, I wished he would have have paid the same attention to the shelfs and surfaces which were covered in dust. Luckily I didn't expect a smile , cause I didn't get any.
Even At the discounted rate of reais 290 for a double for one night this hotel presented itself without any charm or value.
Free wifi (which worked well)
Would I stay here again? No way, there are plenty better option for a better prize in Ouro Preto.
This pousada is only a 5 minute uphill walk from from the historic center. It is located on a nice and quiet street. The rooms are very spacious with well-maintained. The breakfast very good - it is served buffet style and is abundant. Very nice place to stay.
This was booked by my tour company so I hadn't done any investigation before arriving and was very pleasantly surprised. It gives the feeling of being in an old historic building but is really quite new so has all the advantages that go with that. The room was very clean and nicely appointed and the bath was large with a nice hot shower. Breakfast was fine and the staff was very eager to help. They even cooked for us one evening when we didn't want to go back out. WIFI is available in the lobby and that was an inviting place to gather. I would not hesitate to recommend this.
