I really want to like this hotel. Great location. No problem with room decor. Excellent staff. Very convenient to all the good attractions and restaurants in downtown Montreal. Don’t know if we would have had the same problem if we were actually in Lelux. We were switched to the back of the building to the other hotel, the Embassy or something which shares space with Lelux. I do know that the air conditioner sounded like a 747 taking off in my ear. Couldn’t stand the noise so felt hot all night and got a poor sleep. Is the problem the same at the Lelux? Don’t know. Never got a chance to find out. If not, I did not get what I paid for. Caveat emptor.
Be very wary of this hotel - they'll try and find any way to rip you off. I went for a one night visit to Montreal and was happy to put down a $250 deposit to stay the night. However, when we entered our room we noticed the room smelt like smoke, so naturally we asked to switch rooms. Unfortunately the next room we got also smelled like smoke, but because we didn't want to be *those people* we decided we'd just accept the smell and not complain further. This was our biggest mistake. We made the most of it and tried to enjoy our visit by sightseeing and not spending much time in the room itself. A month later I checked my credit card statement expecting the $250 deposit to be returned to my account - but didn't see it there. So I called the hotel, not once but THREE times. Each time the representative claimed that there must've been an issue with my credit card, that the money was returned and that there were absolutely no records of the hotel having kept the funds. So I decided to call my credit card company which disputed the charge with the hotel, after waiting two months to hear back from Lelux. Finally, Lelux responded with claiming that there was a smell in the room, and that that was the reason for the $250 charge. And to fix the smell we supposedly caused (we didn't) they put pot pourri in the room. Not only did we not smoke, but they didn't even bother to come up with a good lie (they forgot we complained about the smell in the original room). SO! The smell was already there and they charge guests for their smoke smelling rooms an extra $250 for pot pourri! BEWARE.
I stayed here for two nights with my G Adventures tour and it was a perfect place to stay. A lovely big room with all the facilities I needed, a coffee maker, great shower and a comfortable bed, what more could you want!
The free breakfast was good, although for some reason they were extremely strict on what you could and couldn't have with the free continental breakfast, having said that the coffee was good with nice big mugs!
The location is great too, down St Hubert (shame about all of the roadworks!) near the metro and walking distance (15 minutes) to the old town.
If I visited Montreal again I stay here again and would recommend.
Sconsigliato caldamente.
