When I entered my room I was firstly welcomed by 50-60 mosquitoes which I single handedly killed myself. Some of the furniture in the room was missing. Shower room was so small that you had to back up in order to get into it. Water sprayed from the shower hose everywhere else than it was intended to. Food at the hotel restaurant is extremely expensive and poorly done.
Having said all of this, one has to put this into overall context of what is available. Hotel is not that bad after initial hickups were corrected and you have adjusted your expectations to a right level. Beer is served cold at the restaurant which is located at top floor facing the sea. New beach promenade is being constructed which hosts currently at least one restaurant.
You need to judge yourself where to stay - probably grass is not greener on the other side...
We arrived in the very early hours of the morning and were met by efficient and helpful staff. Check-in was easy and the rooms clean and comfortable although there was a weird quirk whereby the room lights could not be controlled in the normal fashion using switches by the bed but only by those on the wall which meant bouncing off the furniture in the dark before going to sleep.
Having checked in late (4am) I hung the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door.Sadly the housekeeping staff took this as a challenge and let themselves into my room three times, waking me up in the process.
Which was a moot point because the very noisy road outside and inadequate soundproofing of the windows meant that I couldn't sleep once the traffic got started anyway.
Service in the cafe and restaurant was painfully slow, at the former it took 30 minutes to receive our bill despite requesting it three times.
It is a good hotel, with a nice restaurant on top, but, may be like almost everything in Luanda is too expensive... I had a problem with hot water (is wasn't hot) and it wasn't solved in the three nights I was there...
