Night clerk had a very difficult time with the English language. At check in, she refused to let us in and we had to conduct business through a bullet proof window.
It was noisy and the common areas were filled with what looked like drug dealers and prostitutes. I didn't feel safe at all. When we looked in the room, it was filthy and smelled horrible. There were no towels in the room at all and the bed looked like someone had been laying on top of it. When we went to the office to ask about towels, she said she didn't have any and she offered us a bath mat! One bath mat in place of 2 towels! She told us that maybe we could get towels tomorrow.
At this point, we decided not to stay and asked for our money back. She then acted like she didn't understand English at all then! Refused to give us a refund so we had to dispute charges with credit card company. On the way back to our vehicle, a large black man attempted to sell us crack and two people that looked homeless asked us for money.
I've never been so glad to get away from a place in my life. We called the next day and spoke to the "manager" and he said no refund and acted like he didn't understand English either.
Please do yourself a favor and do NOT stay at this thug infested crack house described at a Red Roof Inn. I'm suprised that they have the franchise time begin with. I would think speaking English would be mandatory for getting a franchise.

Check in was fast and friendly. The room was better than expected for the rate that was charged. That's always a nice surprise. Clean and comfortable best describes what my experience has been. Located close to downtown and campus, there are also plenty if dining options within walking distance. The staff always greeted me with a smile and made every effort to make sure my stay was satisfactory. I will definitely return.
We were with our son for his bday. Statesboro is close & Red Roof allowed our black lab. The WHOLE room was so dirty. The floors were nasty, the tub, the sink, just everything you touched. HOWEVER, the beds were soft & clean sheets. The comforter was dirty & bedskirt. We will Never stay there again!!! $59 + tax was too much!!!
We booked our stay back in July for the Parents Weekend at Georgia Southern the last weekend in September. The morning of our check in we were advised by email that our room was cancelled. When i called, Raj informed me that our credit card was declined, i checked my amex app and there was a charge from the hotel, so the card was not declined. The hotel overbooked themselves and this is thier way of getting out of their previous, lower priced bookings. The room was then sold for more than double what we had booked it for. We stopped in to speak with Raj and explained to him that what he said was false and that we were actually charged for the room so the excuse of the CC decline was a lie, just a way to sell the room at a higher price. He was very unprofessional and treated us very poorly. This property is poorly run, run down, old and outdated. Employees need training in customer service.
I could tell immediately upon arrival this wouldn't be a good experience. The first indicator
was the security window at the entry. Hardly warm or inviting. Check in time was two. We arrived at about 2:20. The room wasn't ready until 3:45. They didn't appear to be very busy, there were very few cars in the parking lot. While waiting for our room we walked around the property. There was litter and debris all over the grounds. The pool was filled in and was an ugly mess. I am a pretty big guy 6'2" and 240 lbs., traveling with a fairly large dog and a gun. I DID NOT FEEL AT ALL SAFE!
