I needed somewhere cheap but comfortable to stay for a couple of nights and this fitted the bill. My ensuite room was smart and cosy, and had everything I needed. (At the back of the hotel, I wasn't disturbed by any noise.) I reckon this is one of the better (cheap) hotels I've stayed in.
It's cheap and that's were it ends! unbelievable nights sleep - as much noise in the hotel as there was outside, couldn't open windows as noise from air conditioning units from shops below was so loud. Spent the night worrying whether my car would be there in the morning. There is a pub directly opposite that was still emptying out at 2am !
Lovely hotel. Rooms are rather compact but recently decorated, light and fresh. Compact en-suite too but well layed out and presented. The shower was amazing! Tea and coffee supplied and iron and board too. Sue at check in was brilliant, with it being so hot, supplied us with a fan. She even offered the use of the tumble dryer to dry wet towels. Just a few doors away from a chinese takeaway and a 5 min walk/ 2min drive to M&S food store, Asda(petrol station too) and McDonalds. Would definitely stay here again.
Recently refurbished small hotel, right in the centre of the Old Village.
Free WiFi works well throughout the hotel and in the room.
Tea/ coffee, kettle, cup & saucer, spoon, glass tumbler available in the room.
no mini bar, no fridge.
Toiletries = a bottled hand wash gel with pump; 10mL shower gel in a sachet. That’s it. So, you may want to bring your own shampoo & hair conditioner etc. Or you can buy them at a shop nearby.
A hand towel and a bath towel were provided.
Lovely shower, really enjoyed shower time.
A smoke detector on the ceiling in the room has a slow flashing light that is, in my opinion, very bright. I had an eye mask (sleeping mask) with me, so I survived.
A vending machine for some simple chocolate bars available near the reception desk in the hotel.
Post office with a cash machine is just opposite side of the road.
There are a few pubs around.
If you are a business traveller like me, staying on Monday night, then to get a decent dinner, you may need to walk at least some minutes.
The takeaway, cafe, bistro around the hotel are closed on Mondays.
In the retail park 5 minutes walk from the hotel, you will find M&S, Boots, Asda, McDonald. Near the retail park, there is an open green space perfect for picnic, weather permitting.
Taxis work well; from the hotel to the New Town centre it costs around 4 GBP. Cash only.
My room was in the rear side.
I didn’t have noise problems (perhaps because I stayed just 2 nights on Monday-Tuesday; I don’t know how the weekends will be).
Overall, better than expected.
I enjoyed my stay.
This was perfect for what we needed. Great location. Bright, clean, modern place. Lovely chatty receptionist, very helpful. Very comfortable bed, nice clean room, bathroom. Will certainly stay again. No need to book Premier Inn or Travelodge if there are places like this about!
