My wife and I decided to make this year's Thanksgiving a 2 night get-a-way holiday. We live in St Louis, so it was only a short 1 hour drive away. I had only stayed at B&Bs while traveling in the UK and Germany so was a bit apprehensive about what to expect from an American run B&B. Natalie greeted us upon our arrival and her charm and friendly nature was immediately apparent. The room we stayed in (Dorothy's room) was very clean and comfortable. There was a private sitting area on our upper level and a large living and dining room on the main level, all for guests. Breakfast were superb, whether french toast or cinnamon swirl pancakes. Being it was only the two of us staying at the B&B during, we enjoyed some of our meals in the comfy setting of the kitchen area. I highly recommend this B&B for anyone traveling to St Genevieve.
Our first visit to Ste. Gen and to a B&B. Natalie was friendly and gracious. The facility was clean, the food delicious and our trip so enjoyable. We can't wait to visit again. We stayed in Dorthy's Room. And the fresh air and morning sun waking us up to the cinnamon swirl pancakes was an excellent way to start any day.
Immediately, Natalie made us feel completely at home. The whole place is immaculate and beautiful. From Dessert in the evening to a wonderful breakfast including the cinnamon roll pancakes that I was looking forward to, we were spoiled with delicious tastes. The large jacuzzi tub was fantastic, room delightful, porch charming, location perfect!
Never having been to St. Gen, MO, I had no idea what to expect. Plus the fact I was meeting birth family for the first time, anxious scarcely describes my state upon arrival. PHEW, was I happy to meet Brad and Natalie. The bed was heaven, the food was delicious and satiating, but the warmth . . . Unexpected. Natalie went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. The journey was to meet a new family, but as I've told many people, I left St Gen with two new families. I'm looking forward to returning with my husband to visit the wineries and just relax in laid back St Gen. I also want to plan a girl trip there. But as a female traveling alone this first time, I couldn't have felt more safe, secure or welcome. Man I miss those breakfasts! Did I mention I extended my stay? :)
April 2012 was my fourth stay at Sonnenblume and my first visit with the new owners. I was well pleased with the entire visit. Everything from the baths to the porch was very well maintained and Natalie and Brad are excellent hosts. The food is wonderful. I highly recommend this B & B for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
