When most people visit Korea, they either go to Seoul, Busan, or Jeju Island. However, for me who enjoys tranquil atmosphere rather than major tourist attractions (literally stuffed with people -- nice to viist once but gets old very fast for me), this little city called Sokcho was perfect. I recommend this place whole heartedly. The house is located in front of a beautiful lake called Yeong Rang, and the walk around the lake is quiet and stunning, The house itself is excellent as well; a dormitory style plus a single room that can hold upto 3 people. The beds are either bunk beds or mattresses on the floor. The place is very clean, well-maintained by the owners who are very friendly. In the morning, I enjoyed freshly brewed coffee from the cafe as well as waffle (for those who do not like waffles, don't worry -- you have the option of homemade walnut pie as well), all included in the original fee! The price is more expensive than other guest houses in the area, but I can't say that I feel cheated or that I regret my choice. Really, if I get the chance, I would come back to this place in a heartbeat.
